Spray paint is a decorator's dream.
It can completely change anything it will stick to, and the results can be dramatic.
Want proof?
Let's get creative!
Are your besties coming over soon?
Give your next "Girl's Night" an unexpected twist with a table centerpiece your friends will never forget! If you don't have an old pair of shoes that you can use for this project, just head to your local thrift store.

We picked out a pair of pleather ankle boots but whatever the shoe, coat it with any color of spray paint that matches your desired color palette.
Once the shoe is totally covered, let it dry completely. Then place a small vase with water inside the shoe and add some cuttings or flowers.
It's so odd it's cute. Your friends will definitely get "a kick" out of it.

Save a couple of your recyclables for this next one. Or-- borrow an empty from a friend and get that can of spray paint out again.
We chose a metallic finish for our wine bottle, and after a couple of coats it turned into a beautiful vessel to hold a candle.
Paint a bunch of bottles and make a candlelit cluster.
Sounds like an excuse for a dinner party to me!

This next one is an idea I am stealing from my mum.
If you've read some of my other Bulletins, you've heard me talk about how she taught me so much about design and decor, inside and out.
This project comes from her garden where Mum had a dark corner that she wanted to brighten. Only-- she didn't want to add another flower bed because she and my dad already have plenty of yard to keep manicured.
So, she found some vintage bikes and pulled out a yellow can of spray paint and created her own cheery garden decor! She added some faux greens to the bike's basket giving it extra cuteness, and if you read my last article you'll know faux is sometimes the way to go.
Well done, Mum!

If you want some fun styling pieces that are inexpensive, colorful and unexpected-- grab some books you have laying around or buy some "used" for a couple of bucks, and spray paint them!

You can cover the entire thing, or spray just the edges of the pages inside, like we did. Both look great and you can pick any colors that match your styling needs, no matter how unusual.
Display the books on shelves, in stacks, even on a coffee table. They make an interesting statement and chances are, your friends won't have seen anything like it!

Recently, I designed a bathroom for a tween girl who wanted to jump on the gold fixture trend.
The only problem?
The drain we needed didn't come in the same color of gold as the rest of the fixtures we used.
I was disheartened thinking we had to mix metals and add silver. Then I remembered we had a can of spray paint at the office (24K Gold) that looked suspiciously similar to the gold tone of the shower hardware.
What did I have to lose, I figured?
Well, it WORKED! No one will ever be the wiser. (Shhh!!)

Don't have anything to put your garden cuttings in?
Maybe you have a glass mason jar around the house, but you want something fancier for your flowers than just clear glass...
Spray paint away and see how your new painted vase will complement your flower gardens finest blooms.
This golden jar is paired with a candle and a rock to make a nice little vignette in the center of an outdoor table.

Need a quick design fix that literally won't cost you a thing?
Grab a branch from outside and give it a spray with any left-over spray paint you might have kicking around. It will look good in any vase at all, and the finished product makes it appear that you tried a lot harder than you did to make a memorable display.
We made this arrangement for the restaurant, Vivo, and you can see we spray painted not only the sticks red, but the pedestal planter too.
The finished result made for a stunning holiday showstopper that guests could gaze at during dinner.

Hopefully you're now feeling inspired! Which of these ideas would you most like to try?
Make sure you share some of the things that you've spray painted, too. I'll meet you in the comments below!!!!
